Preparing for a workshop
I am preparing for a workshop this weekend. Here are a couple of slides:

Here are the statistics:
Within 1 hour, there will have been 180 violent crimes, 11 forcible rapes, and 2 murders in the US. Additionally, 342 children will have been abused or neglected in the US.

We can expect a multi-victim school shooting somewhere in the world every month. Millions of street children are starving around the world and being recruited into criminal and terrorist organizations.

Here are some specifics:

•A 13 and an 11 year old killed 4 classmates and one teacher at their school in Jonesboro, AK
•Two young men murdered 13 teens and teachers before turning the guns on themselves at Columbine High School
•Timothy McVeigh blew up the Morrow Federal building, killing 168 adults and children
•Susan Smith rolled her car into a lake with her small children still strapped into their car seats.

What can you do?

•If it is in your family, ask for help.
•If it is someone you know, talk to them about getting help.
•Donate time or money to a neighborhood watch, Yellow Ribbon Program in your child’s school, or local domestic violence program.
•If you see child abuse, report it.
•Be a mentor
•Volunteer at your child’s school
•Talk to your child
•Get to know your child’s friends
